Equity Fund

An equity mutual fund is a fund that invests directly in the shares of companies. Equity mutual funds may invest domestically or globally and within various sectors depending on the mandate of the fund. Equity funds may be passively or actively managed, and may focus on value stocks, growth stocks or core, or GAARP stocks. It is important to understand the particular style or focus of an equity mutual fund because some may perform differently at different times.
