Fund Manager

A fund manager is the person responsible for managing a fund. This may encompass formulation of investment strategy, implementation of strategy i.e. trading and portfolio construction, right through to monitoring of the portfolio. Fund managers are typically highly trained and experienced professionals often holding post-graduate qualifications, with many holding the prestigious CFA designation. The term fund manager may also be used by some to describe the actual company or organization that provides the fund products. Depending on legal and regulatory definitions the term "fund manager" can mean certain things, e.g. the issuer of units in the fund, the investment manager, and so-on.
