Russell 2000

The Russell 2000 Index is an index which tracks the performance of the 2000 smallest companies in the Russell 3000 Index (which is composed from the 3000 largest US listed companies). The Russell 2000 is widely considered to be the main benchmark for small cap mutual funds (with the index having about a US$1 billion weighted average market cap). The index is maintained by the Russell Investment Group.
