Standard & Poor's

Standard & Poor's is important in two sense for fund management. In the one sense it is important to the fixed income asset class because it is one of the key credit rating agencies i.e. rates bond issues and bond issuers (where AAA rating is the highest). Standard & Poor's is also important from the standpoint of fund research and assessment; providing ratings on funds based on performance and consistency of performance relative to peers. Standard & Poor's have two methods of fund classification; Standard & Poor's Star Ratings and Standard & Poor's Fund Management Ratings. These ratings and research tools are yet another useful information point to feed into the research and analysis phase of fund manager selection.

Synonyms: S&P, Standard & Poor's Star Ratings, Standard & Poor's Fund Management Ratings
