A trustee is a firm that specializes in providing trustee services, and is responsible for overseeing the fund manager's activities, and ensuring that their activity and conduct is in accordance with the trust deed. The trustee must act in the best interests of the unit holders, and ensure compliance with fund objectives and policies, as well as broader regulations. In this sense the trustee should be acting as a sort of delegated regulator, and investors should expect high standards of conduct from trustees as front-line regulators and supervisors of fund managers.
