Wilshire 5000

The Wilshire 5000 index is designed to measure the performance of all US equity securities with readily available price data. Claymore provides an ETF based on the Wilshire 5000 index with the ticker symbol WFVK. The Wilshire 5000 index is often used as a benchmark for US equities because it is a relatively comprehensive measure of all US stocks. At any given time the Wilshire 5000 Index may not actually track 5000 stocks, it has been more or less through time (based on factors such as availability of stocks with a sufficient market cap, trading volume, institutional holdings, conversion rules, etc).

Synonyms: Wilshire index, Wilshire all companies
