The AEX or Amsterdam Stock Exchange is the former name of the main stock exchange of the Netherlands. It is considered the oldest stock exchange in the world; established in 1602 by the Dutch East India Company for dealings in its stocks and bonds. Nowadays the AEX is managed by Euronext Amsterdam (part of the global exchange giant, NYSE Euronext), and also previously merged with the European Option Exchange.
