Managed Account

A managed account is a separate account owned by an investor but managed by a third party e.g. a broker or financial adviser. Managed accounts are distinct from managed investment products such as mutual funds or unit trusts, because the portfolio is tailored to the individual client's specific needs and goals e.g. an investor in a managed account could have sway over their holdings, whereas a holder in a mutual fund could not - as the fund operates for a large group of people.

Synonyms: Advised portfolio, Separate account
