A Nominee is a person or company that holds share on behalf of the actual shareholder. Nominees are used in some instances to preserve the anonymity of the actual shareholder, while in other instances it is purely an administrative edifice used by institutional investors or brokers to centralise the back office functions and administration of their private clients' accounts.
