Total Number of Bond Holdings

A fund's Total Number of Bond Holdings refers to the number of different bonds that it holds in its portfolio. The amount of holdings in a bond portfolio will give an indication as to how well diversified and thus how risky it is. A fund with only a few holdings will be relatively more exposed to the default of a single security than a fund with many different holdings.
